How are the HP 364 and HP 364XL ink cartridges different?

The only difference between HP 364 and HP 364XL ink cartridges is their ink capacity! The 364XL cartridges are high capacity ink cartridges, so they contain more ink than the standard 364 cartridges.

For example:

• HP 364 black ink cartridge contains 6ml of ink, while HP 364XL black ink cartridge contains 18ml of ink!
• HP 364 PBK/C/M/Y ink cartridge contains 3ml of ink, while HP 364XL PBK/C/M/Y ink cartridge contains 14.2ml of ink!

There is a significant difference in ink volume when you compare the standard cartridge to the XL. This makes the XL versions ideal for a busy home or office printer that has a higher capacity of prints to carry out!

Please note! While the ink cartridges differ in ink volume, the cartridges are physically the exact same size, so you don’t have to worry about your HP printer not accepting the XL version!

You will also find our own-brand 364XL cleaning cartridges on this page! It is important to take every step possible to take care of your HP inkjet printer, so from time to time, you will need to clean the printhead.

If your print quality begins to decline, even after changing your 364(XL) ink cartridges, this might mean some ink has dried up in the printhead. Using our own-brand 364XL cleaning cartridges, you should be able to remove any residue that is clogged in the printhead’s nozzles. These cleaning cartridges can be used up to 10 times, so you can repeat as often as necessary to keep your printer in top printing condition.

Follow these simple steps to successfully clean your printer’s printheads:

• Remove the 364XL cleaning cartridges from the packaging and remove the yellow tape. Then remove the orange plastic cover (if any).
• Replace the 364(XL) ink cartridges currently in your printer with the cleaning cartridges.
• Perform a Printhead Cleaning. This step can vary from printer to printer, so it is best to refer to your printer’s user manual.
• Clean the printheads twice and leave the printer to sit for about an hour.
• After an hour or so, clean the printheads again.
• Place the regular 364(XL) ink cartridges in the printer again and clean again.
• Print a test page to check your print quality.

If there is any colour missing in the above image, we recommend allowing the printer to stand for up to 24 hours and then using the cleaning cartridges to clean the printheads again. If you have carried out all of these cleans and your print quality has not improved, it means the printhead has dried up too much and the problem can no longer be solved with cleaning fluid.
