Replace your Brother DR-243CL drum to maintain your laser printer’s health

As the Brother DR-243CL drum has a printing capacity of up to 18,000 pages, you should replace your drum after using approximately six toners. Alternatively, your Brother printer should alert you when it is time to change your drum! Replacing the drum unit in your laser printer is a simple procedure that you can complete yourself, without the help of a technician.

Why not follow the steps we have outlined below?
 

1. Make sure your Brother printer is turned off and allow it to cool completely.

2. Open the front cover of your printer (the same place you insert your Brother TN-247 toners).

3. Take out the drum unit, along with the toner cartridge. We recommend you place the drum and toner on a flat surface with disposable paper underneath, as toner powder may accidentally spill. You might also consider wearing gloves for this process to avoid your hands becoming dirty.

4. Push down the green lock lever and remove the toner cartridge from the Brother DR-243CL drum unit.

5. Put the toner cartridge into the new drum unit until you hear it lock into place. If it has been inserted correctly, then the green lock lever will lift back into place.

6. Place the drum unit and toner back into your Brother printer. Don’t close the front cover of the printer yet.

7. Press and hold down the ‘Go’ button on your laser printer for about 4 seconds, until all the LEDs light up. Once they do, you can release the ‘Go’ button.

8. You can then close the front cover of your Brother printer and once the ‘Drum’ light is no longer lit, you are free to print again.
